Portrait of an unknown
inside out
A journey into the self, an exploration of one’s desires and fears, and an opportunity to share one’s thoughts with others. It reflects the multifaceted nature of our personalities: we can be prickly and tender, vulnerable and vibrant, passive and assertive — depending on our inner state. The sculpture encourages openness, a display of our true selves, but also reminds us of the right to vulnerability and the option to retreat when the world becomes too overwhelming.

Portrait of an unknown
boundaries
The world around us and the people we interact with are like sculptors, molding our essence. We are a malleable substance, taking the shape of the vessel we’re placed in. But what happens if that vessel cracks, and our inner contents begin to spill out, ignoring boundaries? What if the constraints on our inner selves disappear?
A good analogy is glaze — a liquid that hardens. In a kiln, at temperatures over 1000 degrees, it’s fluid. But at room temperature, it cools rapidly and solidifies.
